Welcome to my little piece of the Blogiverse! I am Amanda Hougas, a happily Forever Married, almost eight years into being a mom to beautiful twin girls – The Weeb and The Bugg – who remain the biggest blessing and answered prayer we have received. Georgia born and Jesus Saved (as the meme goes), we currently reside in the little West Georgia town of Villa Rica (yeah, I had never heard of it either, ‘til we moved here). I married my “middle school” sweetheart and Praise God, we will celebrate 24 in November (2023)!
In October 1995, I trust Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour. However, that is where it started and stopped. There was no attending church, ministries, or growth in my life for almost 7 years. Though I was a child of God, the spirit of God lay dormant in there waiting for me to get it together! Praise God in September of 2000, I did.
Since that time (09/2000), we have attended the Happy Valley Baptist Church here in our town. This is the place we learned not only about the Lord, his mercy, grace, and let’s not forget longsuffering (Thank You Lord!); but it is the place we learned to serve the Lord as well. Both my husband and I are active in the Sunday School and Junior Church ministries there.
Whole heartedly, I am a lover of ALL THINGS Sunday School! In 2003 my ministry journey began in Sunday School and in 2016, it paused for a bit to focus on raising two littles. Previously stated on this page was that I had finished my race in this ministry in 2016 – Praise God that was a lie (although I did not know it then). The Lord allowed me to put my Sunday School running shoes back on in August of 2019.
In our home most all things are doubled, Doc McStuffins used to take our ouchies away, and quietness, well… we don’t know her! We absolutely don’t take enough family photos and are mostly home bodies, but what we do know is that GOD IS GOOD – all the time – and that he is the key to living a successful and semi-balanced (ha!) life. Do we do everything right? No way man! But when we stumble, we try our best to get right back up again and keep moving in the path that He leads.
I am convinced, 100% sure that peanut butter tastes good on just about anything, prayers do get answered, love at first sight does exist, my marriage CAN last forever, forgiveness is the key to happiness, friendship is one of the greatest gifts, children are God’s heritage and should be treated well, and finally, that the answer to most any question is always chicken.
Thanks for taking the time to learn a little about my family and our ministries. I pray that you will get a blessing from this blog or at least a good giggle. We’d love for you to join our crew and Subscribe to The Newsletter (weekly sent). Hope you have a wonderful day in our Lord. God Bless!
